Sunshine and Roses

From the artist:

Hello, This painting is very small, about 8" X 10" (for ease of scanning). It is done in watercolor on Arches 140 lb. cold pressed paper. I used mainly Grumbacher paints, I believe they were Academy. It was done at my kitchen table using a small table lamp. It makes it hard to choose a painting when it has to have visible problems that can be pointed out, but I'm sure this one will fit that category. I just want to say that I love your site. Thanks for the great service you're doing for all of us artists.

Your Original

Strong Points:

Wow! This indeed is a nice piece of work! I see you know your stuff. You carefully planned this painting. I don't see anything wrong with it. Quite the contrary. I'd prefer to point out the positive aspects:

  1. Color harmony was assured by echoing the same colors throughout the painting.
  2. The position and the sizes of the flowers are varied.
  3. You established a focal point and only defined the flower at the bottom right placing it in the right area.
  4. The corners are subdued.
  5. Nice play of warm and cool colors.

All in all you hit a homerun. Congratulations!

Johannes
