Below there are three photographs. I purposely selected these because of their simplicity and the tree content. Select the one you prefer and develop a painting based on it. If you wish to do more paintings from the photos go ahead. Follow the suggestions.
Add highlights to the trees on the left that would pick up the sunlight.  The shadows of the trees in the far background should be done in mauves. You may want to change some of the trees to an autumn scene. Just add a few clouds to the sky. Don’t lineup your trees to follow a straight line. Define the mountain in the background a little more.
Keep the foreground weeds and grass in shadow and simplify. The middle ground can be highlighted.  Define the cabin a little more.  Make sure the three large trees in the back do not have the same height nor the same form.  Keep your water simple.   Make the sky more interesting. The weeds that come out from the bottom of the picture, change them to cattails. Define the mountain in the far background bit more.
Break the triangular shape in the evergreen tree on the right. Also the tree on the left can be made into a round summer or autumn tree.  Change the values in the trees that appear farther back to push them into the distance. The grass and water can pretty much stay the same.
